MULLANA | 01 September 2k2 - The day i thought i met an IITian!!!

Post-graduation was the first incident that entailed me to stay away from home and face the life. And was also afraid of the upcoming academic flood (Although i got selected in this prestigious college, but had never got even a first class in my earlier academics, and in fact my father was not sure about my selection and asked me to double check the selection list for whether it was a printing mistake or i made a stupid mistake to think of myself being one of the chosen ones!)

It was the very first day in the hostel i stayed in. I shared my room with another guy from faridabad who also reached there that same day. We had taken the lunch, and were lying there relaxing with a mild talk about all sorts of gibberish. And that was the moment when THE SUBJECT entered.

Bond... James Bond (no, he didn't say so, the name was Andy Gupta). Intellectual looks, mild nature - I was bent to feel as if I, the very first day, found the hook i would grab to get dragged successfully along the upcoming academic tsunami. As time passed, 22g showed his true colors. Every time I wud resort to him to learn XYZ of a subject he wud instead make me tell him ABC. Many a times we wud discuss how FOOLISHLY I took him being an IITian n he took me as a delhi stud. Fortunately the misconceptions vapourized soon and we became well acquainted FUKRAAS... The friendship has since been amicable tom-n-jerry type wid lots of maa-behn (duniya ki) [point to be noted my god...] being consistent to prove oneself the smarter one. The frays have occassionally been physical wrestling with wounds(NEELs) left with the LOSER one (an easy guess :-))

The three years(PG, proddh gyan) spent learning to shepherd the torture machine(the infamous PC) did include a lot of fun. Andy met a full lot of accidents during the span, and most of the times i was the culprit :-) Well, we started with our so called, better than nothing, career with OH MY DEAR! Miracle Technologies chd TOGETHER. Everything went cool for a year or so. But then again, he wanted something to feel SUPERIOR! So, he decided to b something wid a RIGHT to scrutinize and brutalize developer's work n life! He got back to delhi and became a QUALITY ANALYST - so the 36 ka aakda still persists!!!

Fortunately we don't work for same company. I m back to my home/delhi as well. We still meet once in every couple of weeks. Andy is a GOOD FRIEND.

(Dedicated to ##th BDAY of Andy)

Once a legend, Always a legend - BRYAN ADAMS

Be it a tape or Hi-Fi, if it's something by legendary BRYAN ADAMS, gotta be great.

Although my first perception about english/international music was it being gibberish, unintelligible stuff - it all changed when i listned to acoustic strings by BA. And though for the last 10-12 years, my favourite genres have been alternative/punk or metal, soft rock by Bryan Adams has always been distinctive.

Further, as i have always realized that music attaches to your mental context at time u r listening to it

Bole to... WHERE IS MY INDIA?

Have been thinkin of it for a long time now, but all of a sudden, while sitting in office, m compelled to write it as these thoughts streamed through my neuro-threads,

  • M working hard to earn business for a JAPANESE company
  • M having an account opened in an AMERICAN bank
  • M feeling great using Cell by FLY n using Vodafone network
  • M feeling-high wearing apparels from brands like Lee, Numero Uno, Adidas
  • M dreaming to fetch a sedan as famed as BMW, Audi or Honda
  • We are creating Securest possible information solutions for foreign clients, but our own government/fiscal info is being breached by chinese.

I meannnnnnnnnn......... WHERE IS MY INDIA?
Why are we not anxious to work in an Indian company like Miracle Technologies or TCS. Why in our dreams it's always a BMW while TATA and MARUTI r trying hard to make equally luxurious Sedans/Hatchbacks. Why a guy wrapped in JOCKEY feels like superman while denies our own SWAGAT calling it kinda desi-stuff shaktimaan.

Im really giving it a thought, n so should u - I HOPE.

Biddin Farewell to pal Sanders!

Sanders going vvvrrrooommm...

Chap would b leaving soon!

He has been more of a friend than a colleague - Be it those funny disputes over bloody bits n bytes, or flirt with pakaau pappu bhaiya, or even his abrupt and unstoppable fuss when alcohol reigned his brains - we cherished it all.

He also accompanied us to the Mata Vaishno Devi trip, and it was great. Everybody avoided any kind of sleep for 3 whole days to make most out of the trip - it really felt as a college trip rather being a bunch of DOTNET GEEKS going up there to implore god "bhagwan ji, mujhe banaya - theek, ye C# kyu banayi..." or may be "bhagwan ji, amelio ko yahi rakh lo - kuch nahi aata isko, when i get back, i would be team lead".

Also, i wud like to introduce another pal who did accompany us on the trip, Rupert.
Rupert --- strongest of us all --- we, covering half a mile, couldn't find him near by, searched for him, n.. n.. n.. there he was, sitting on FIFTEENTH step from bottom, engulfing barrels of water for THE EFFORT he had done so far. FIFTEEN STEPS DUDE! - quite strong na! And his words - "huf.. huf.. i think m done yaar!". But then, after that moment, n i believe it surely was maata ka aashirwaad, he was second to none for keeping it agile n moving ahead - Jai Mata Di!

Sanders is finally movin out, advancing ahead to acme of his career.
We wish him best of luck n prosperity!

But he has not left Yet! n m gonna write more soon...

It's happening again! N this time it feels too deep, touchin the bottom!

One doesn't need to view Golden Globe records, or Oscar nominations, to assert that Mr. A R Rahman is really a Maestro - we have been listening to his great music since quite long now.

Nobody obviously can describe the how and why of a particular music note sounding gr8, but i guess it is as if, when u r listening to a song, that gets related to your mental and cordial state at that moment, and then u find that music good or bad accordingly.

And this is for the 2nd time in last few years that i feel compelled to reduce my playlist to a single song playing again and again. The first one was "Tere Bina" from the movie Guru.

And the other one - song of the moment, IM SURE EVERYBODY WOULD AGREE, is "Kaise mujhe" from the movie Ghajini. Unfortunately, it is the only song from movie that sounds like a Rahman's composition.

As to me, this song reminds me of my constant and desperate longing for something. And I am... PERIOD (let's hear to song)

oh ho ho ho, ho ho ho....
ho ho ho
ho ho ho
Kaise mujhe tum mil gayi
kismat pe aaye na yakeen
utar aayi jheel mein jaise chand utarta hai kabhi,
haule haule, dheere se

gunguni dhoop ki tarah se tarannumm mein tum,
chhoo ke mujhe guzri ho yu
dekhu tumhe ya main soono, tum ho sukoon tum ho junoon
kyu pehle na aayi tum

kaise mujhe tum mil gayi (oh ho ho ho)
kismat pe aaye na yakeen

main to ye sochta tha
ke aaj kal
upar wale ko fursat nahi
fir bhi tumhe bana ke wo,
meri nazar mein chad gaya
rutbei mein wo aur chad gaya

aa aa aa
aa aa aa

badle raaste, jharne aur nadi, badle deep ki tim tim
chede zindagi dhun koi nayi, badli barkha ki rim jhim
badlengi rituei adaa
par main rahoongi sada usi tarah teri bahon mein bahein daal ke
har lamhaa
har pal

aa aa aa
aa aa aa

zindagi sitar ho gayi
rim jhim malhaar ho gayi
mujhe aata nahi kismat pe apni yakeen
kaise mujhko mili tum

Programming is not fun Anymore!

On January 26, 2k9 i complete my 3 years of professional[not so though] coding. Programming arena is so wide to roam around, and i have traversed only a bit. The sheer eternal scope makes you feel meager.

MCA - 1st semester, i was in high skies thinking that bloody tomes would now be replaced by Magic Box called PC, always dreamt about creating video games n doing other digital wonders with it. Soon realized that Practical labs r there just to add to the assets of the college n to show off. IIIrd semester, got my first PC at home, n was very much in love with seductive C language - while travelling back to home(delhi) in bus, would contemplate about my next night adventure : candle light dinner with darling C. Sometimes, i wud think emulating diwali fire crackers on my screen, or synchronizing a graphical pendulum with system clock, other times, it wud b some other awkward idea uttered by my mind. Final Semester, felt overwhelmed by acquaintance with the whole lot variety of technologies, n wasn't good with any one of them.

Having failed with Quark Soft(Mohali), HCL Tech(Noida) n Nagarro Soft(Gurgaon) - finally landed in Miracle Tech. MS NET was the next ugly confrontation - boring, abhorring, threatening. I had become an IT Bhaiya!, coming all over from delhi to chd to earn my f##ked up living.

Just like i used to do it in my own room 3 years back, i still program, but certainly, much has changed - Workarounds have replaced challenges, Logic is all published at google for copy-paste, deadlines have replaced internal bliss, and worst of all, my darling C has been superseded by awful C#! I don't love to code now.

What started as a passion, seems now like a futile endeavor.
For me, Programming is not fun anymore!

As DILEMMA(d-ee-l-e-m-eh) accrued for the NOMADIC

Middle of the day it was, I was very much busy trying satisfy my machine, as always surrendering my neurons to its deadly torture. Jason rushed to me, saying somebody just called him a NOMADIC. Quite curious he was - "yaar, look what exactly does it mean? what do people think of me?"

The person who called him so is actually a good acquaintance of him. And it had been more than a full day when he was referred to as nomadic, and he was more curious than vexed for what could this horrible word possibly meant? n hence goes the title. He made me open Browser, Ctrl+T, www.answers.com, n there we waited for the famous dictionary wisdom to come to our rescue......................

Meanwhile, as if it is the human nature, just to destruct the monotony, i was traversing through other opened tabs, n we saw this tab - it had answers.com already opened, showing definition for the word DILEMMA (d-ee-le-m-eh, and not d-e-l-eh-m-eh). Jason said "Amelio, angrezi badah le apni, kaam mat kariyo tu...". Ha Ha Ha..., there i was, laughing. Told Jason "tell u wt, somebody just told me dilemma is pronounced d-e-l-eh-m-eh, and not d-ee-l-e-m-eh as i used to think. And, by George, u know who told me this?" Ha Ha Ha... + Ha Ha Ha..., this time he accompanied me with his share of laughter. "But i had it somewhere in the back of my mind, n so i was just confirming it here using the phonetics"

Then suddenly, at the very moment, everybody started yelling - hey, Internet is not working, where the hell are Sys Admins? Also, the great Boss came out of his cabin - Why isn't internet working? what m i paying Sys Admins for? And i couldn't find Jason around next moment, he was gone, joining Gordon in the server room to get Internet connection rectified.

15 minutes later, internet was working fine, n Jason, sitting beside me, stared in disbelief towards monitor that had answers.com opened, showing NOMADIC = moving from place to place. He stood up "KHANA-BADOSH, so this is who i m?" Half grinning, half angry he left my so-called cubicle.

Another 15 minutes, i got a phone call, person on other side said "you told jason that NOMADIC means khana-badosh? u tell people lies?". I clarified that i didn't tell him so, it was his own interpretation [but i still think his interpretation for nomadic being a wanderer was right, maybe it doesn't concern essentially the food, it's basically about no abode permanence.] Also, i did want to tell the person on other side that dilemma is actually pronounced d-ee-l-e-m-eh, but...

Having worked for an hour or so in a row, implored my machine for a small break. Also, jason was here - "Amelio, u know wt, nomadic doesn't mean khana-badosh, instead it is used to refer to a person being a WANDERER. And because of nature of my work, i m always moving from here to there in office. So, im a nomadic." It was as if somebody gave him a pain killer right after giving him a punch on face, and pain had vanished. But i was happy that he was out of confusion now. I said "that's good jason, let's go for smoke".

That day jason explained to me the meaning of nomadic at least a couple of more times. So, jason now felt it justified for himself to be called a NOMADIC n i wasn't under any DILEMMA(d-ee-l-e-m-eh) anymore.

Late-Great Heath Ledger | The Joker - I always wanted to write since The Dark Knight !

Joker - Act for the Lifetime!
why so serious

Heaven's Highway
Heath Ledger - A Talented Tragedy

Heath Andrew Ledger (4 April 1979 – 22 January 2008) was an Australian television and film actor, best known n remembered for his performance as JOKER in the movie, The Dark Knight. And it is this very JOKER act that has entailed me write this salutation to him.

Saw this movie 3 times in Theatre, downloaded from torrent 4 times to get the clearest print possible [So, if somebody reading it out has not yet seen it, do get it from me] n there i have it on my laptop - the most precious thing i would take backup of, when some malfunction demands for an OS format.

Here are some of his famous quotes/lines from the movie,

  • Why so serious?
  • And i thought my jokes were bad
  • Let's put a smile on that face
  • All you care about is money, this town deserves a better class criminal
  • U see m a guy of simple taste, i enjoy dynamite, gun powder n gasoline...
For those who have not seen the movie yet, i would suggest them to do so - after all, the movie broke many box office records. Moreover, the music director for the movie is again a maestro - Hans Zimmer, the most important aspect for the music being the feel of tension building up in plot as movie paces ahead.

Ledger has been nominated for a posthumous Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor - Motion Picture [To be announced on January 11, 29] - And finally he has got it!!!, Dark Knight Director Christopher Nolan accepted the statuette on his behalf. Also, the fan club hopes for a posthumous Oscar - And again he bagged it - JOKER is now an Academy award winner. And btw he is also a winner of Best Actor International Award at the 2008 Australian Film Institute awards.

New Year Eve - all that started good, got bad, and worse, ended Great!!

New Year Eve ................Alcohol, Friends, Fun, Heart Eruptions, Clashes ............Pukes, Hugs, Wishes.................... A Very Happy New Year

This New Year's eve was no different.
...
...
The first half of the day in office saw every guy asking other pal same question, "So, whats the plan?". This was the intermittent torture i felt too when Jason or Gordon would come to me every other minute n put same question. Plans, plans n plans - there were many of them. we thought big - Shimla, we thought cheaper - Kasauli, n we did think smarter - Forget it all, get back to home n let new year creep in silently when we r asleep.

It was all frustrating n bullshit - office pals finding hard to decide on a particular plan, College mates calling to ask again for a PLAN, n moreover, there i was, sitting in front of my f#@$ing machine letting it play with my neurons - "Slave, screw ur brains n write code. write... write... n keep writing - Soon i'm gonna show u face of YSODeath. This is to remind you of your aboriginal n unending slavery - u f##ked up IT slave."

So, finally, by the time we bade adieu to office, we had decided on a plan - NO PLAN. Standing outside the office building in nipping cold, we still wondered wt to do. And then after another round of those irritating and futile suggestions, suddenly, everybody approved to ... ... ... TO DO IT OUR OWN desi WAY! So, we started for the destination for tonight, Sector 22 Tavern [TThekaa/Ahaataa].

At about 9PM, there we were, 7 of us - Jason, Gordon, Anthony, Amelio-i, Roger, Sanders, n me(Amelio), standing right in front of the place, smoking n waiting to find room inside.

Coming up soon...

  • As alcohol streamed through our veins to purify us for the coming new year.
  • Other fellas - Randall, Paul, Harold, Ron, Monty n Napoleon joining us for the bash.
